October Spread: career decisions

syntaxofthings for creating this community! Hope this post is appropriate here.)
I generally do a monthly spread which is almost always late. :) I sat down intending to do a "general life overview" type spread for the coming month, but then was drawn to ask more specifically about some career option things I have coming my way.
For reference I use my mother's old Rider-Waite deck.
The Results
Past: Justice (Reversed) - seems obvious - a just decision was made but not in my favour: I was recently passed over for a contract I had interviewed for, and instead got a shorter term contract which is less ideal for me though still pretty good and potentially leading to a longer term thing
Present: High Priestess - "inner wisdom and self-reliance" - I'm not entirely sure how to interpret this, but I choose to see it as me appreciating this less ideal contract for all the new skills it will teach me, and that I should maybe pay attention to my intuition about staying if it turns into a longer contract
Future: The Hierophant - I think it's interesting that this came up right next to the High Priestess but again, not entirely sure how to interpret it. Perhaps I will have a guiding person council me more on my options/decisions as things unfold.
Best course of action: VII of Swords - "avoiding confrontation and diligent preparations" - I sort of take this to mean that my current path of not pushing towards anything specific right now is wise, as I wait to see how I really like this new job, and what's possible in terms of combining it with a potential big trip away
Other People: The Empress (Reversed) - domestic difficulties and problems with emotional well being - my current contract has me long-distance from my SO for longer than we'd originally intended, and my upcoming choices so far would either put me away from him for longer or have him move to a new area where he doesn't have a lot of friends. YEP.
Obstacles: II of Swords (Reversed) - the word "choices" always hits me when I draw this card, although apparently it has more to do with disharmony and irreconcilable differences. I feel like my plans to "have it all" likely won't work out, and I wonder if this reflects that.
Outcome: II of Wands (Reversed) - Problems with partners, questioning the worth of achievements and personal values adopted to achieve ambitions - I have sacrificed a LOT to get to where I am right now, and although I am mostly happy with it, I do regret missing out on somethings. I wonder sometimes if I should be more demanding about my personal needs while looking for work in order to stay happy while getting ahead.
Overall this was pretty interesting, I could see in multiple cards exactly what it was applied to. There were 3 IIs in the spread, if you count the High Priestess, which my lil' tarot book tells me indicates reorganization, which is very much where I am right now!

Date: 11 October 2015 02:53 (UTC)I consult my guide at every reading, but generally think of reversed cards as their usual orientation's meaning with a bit of a twist. The just decision... but it was not in my favour. Achieving my ends... but questioning what I had to give up to get there. (Strength... but it was achieved through hardship is another one that came up in a powerful reading I gave a friend once.)
I know some people just ignore the reversal, but I've always done reversals in my readings/readings that have been done for me, and not incorporating it would make me too twitchy, I think.
What sort of troubles are you having? Do you usually incorporate them or no?
